Ingredients
Flan Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 can evaporated milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
5 large eggsbeaten
Caramel Sauce
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
Instructions
1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture turns a golden caramel color.
3Quickly pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting the dish to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
4In a large mixing bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and beaten eggs. Mix until smooth and well-blended.
5Pour the milk and egg mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish.
6Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with enough hot water to come halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
7Carefully transfer the pan to the preheated oven. Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the flan comes out clean.
8Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool at room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
9To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Place a serving plate on top of the baking dish and invert it to release the flan onto the plate.
