Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 sheets nori (seaweed)
  • 8 ounces fresh salmon sliced
  • 8 ounces ahi tuna sliced
  • 1 medium cucumber julienned
  • 1 medium avocado sliced

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon wasabi paste
  • 1 tablespoon pickled ginger

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. 2 Combine the rinsed rice and 2 1/2 cups of water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. 3 In a small saucepan, combine rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat gently and stir until the sugar dissolves. Let it cool.
  4. 4 Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
  5. 5 Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat with the shiny side facing down.
  6. 6 Spread an even layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  7. 7 Arrange slices of salmon and ahi tuna, along with cucumber and avocado, across the middle of the rice.
  8. 8 Using the sushi mat, tightly roll the nori over the filling into a cylinder.
  9. 9 Slice the roll into 6-8 pieces using a sharp knife.
  10. 10 Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients.
  11. 11 Serve the sushi rolls with soy sauce, wasabi paste, and pickled ginger on the side.
