Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup carrot diced
  • 1 cup celery diced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1 pound pasta

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  2. 2 Add minced garlic, diced carrots, and diced celery to the pot. Cook for about 5 minutes until vegetables are softened.
  3. 3 Increase heat to medium-high and add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks.
  4. 4 Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. 5 Pour in the red wine, scraping any browned bits from the bottom of the pot, and simmer until the liquid is reduced by half.

  7. 7 Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
