Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup glutinous rice soaked overnight
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 whole ripe mangoes peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds toasted

Coconut Sauce

  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. 1 Rinse the glutinous rice several times until the water runs clear, then soak it in water overnight.
  2. 2 Drain the rice and steam it in a rice cooker or bamboo steamer for 30-40 minutes until tender.
  3. 3 In a saucepan, combine 1 1/2 cups coconut milk, 1 cup sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.
  4. 4 Transfer the cooked rice into a large bowl. Gradually stir in the coconut milk mixture until the rice is well coated. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  5. 5 For the coconut sauce, combine 1/2 cup coconut milk, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt in a small saucepan. Heat until the sugar dissolves, then set aside.
  6. 6 To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with mango slices, and drizzle with the coconut sauce. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds.
