Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 racks pork ribs
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Smoky BBQ Sauce

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

  1. 1 Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. 2 In a small bowl, mix together paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to create a dry rub.
  3. 3 Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs and pat them dry with paper towels.
  4. 4 Rub the dry mix all over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. 5 Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, bone side down. Cover tightly with another piece of foil.
  6. 6 Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulling away from the bones.
  7. 7 While the ribs are baking, prepare the smoky BBQ sauce. In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir well.
  8. 8 Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  9. 9 Once the ribs are done baking, remove the top foil and brush them generously with the smoky BBQ sauce.
  10. 10 Turn the oven to broil, and place the ribs back in for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce caramelizes.
  11. 11 Remove from oven, allow to rest for a few minutes, then slice and serve with extra sauce on the side.
