Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 8 ounces mushrooms sliced
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 whole hamburger buns toasted
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground

Instructions

  1. 1 In a large skillet, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and tender. Set aside.
  2. 2 Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  3. 3 In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Mix gently to combine.
  4. 4 Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4-inch thick.
  5. 5 Place the patties on the preheated grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  6. 6 During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
  7. 7 Remove the patties from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. 8 To assemble the burgers, place each patty on the bottom half of a toasted hamburger bun. Top with sautéed mushrooms and cover with the top half of the bun.
  9. 9 Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
