Ingredients
Main Ingredients
1 whole duckcleaned and patted dry
2 tablespoons Chinese five-spice powder
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon gingergrated
3 cloves garlicminced
Hoisin Sauce
1/2 cup hoisin sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
Instructions
1Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
2Combine the Chinese five-spice powder, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, and minced garlic in a bowl to make a marinade.
3Rub the marinade all over the duck, making sure to get it inside the cavity as well. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
4Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for 1.5 hours, basting occasionally with the pan juices.
5While the duck is roasting, prepare the hoisin sauce by combining all sauce ingredients in a bowl and mixing well.
6After 1.5 hours, increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C) and roast for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
7Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
8Serve the crispy duck with the prepared hoisin sauce on the side.
