Ingredients

Churro Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Chocolate Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate chopped

Instructions

  1. 1 In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil then remove from heat.
  2. 2 Stir in sifted flour until the mixture forms a ball.
  3. 3 Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  4. 4 Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil using a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
  5. 5 Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll drained churros in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  6. 6 For the chocolate sauce, heat heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until simmering. Remove from heat and add chopped dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  7. 7 Serve churros warm with chocolate dipping sauce on the side.
