Ingredients

Churro Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1 quart oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Chocolate Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter unsalted
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Instructions

  1. 1 In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine water, 2 1/2 tablespoons sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
  2. 2 Stir in sifted flour until mixture forms a ball.
  3. 3 Heat oil for frying in a deep-fryer or deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
  4. 4 Pipe strips of dough into hot oil using a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip. Fry until golden; drain on paper towels.
  5. 5 Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll drained churros in cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  6. 6 For the chocolate sauce, heat heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat.
  7. 7 Add chopped chocolate, butter, and honey to the hot cream. Stir until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  8. 8 Serve churros warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.
