Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour sifted
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Toppings

  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. 1 In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2 In a large bowl, mix sifted flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add yogurt, oil, and the yeast mixture.
  3. 3 Knead the mixture into a soft dough for about 10 minutes. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour as needed.
  4. 4 Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for approximately 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. 5 After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball.
  6. 6 On a floured surface, roll out each ball into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. 7 Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the rolled dough onto the hot skillet.
  8. 8 Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown.
  9. 9 Brush the hot naan with melted butter and sprinkle with minced garlic and chopped cilantro.
  10. 10 Repeat the process with the remaining dough portions and serve warm.
