Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 pieces salmon fillets skin-on or skinless
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds toasted
  • 2 tablespoons green onions sliced

Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sake
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

Instructions

  1. 1 In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic together to make the teriyaki sauce.
  2. 2 Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour half of the teriyaki sauce over them. Let them marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  3. 3 Heat the vegetable oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. 4 Remove the salmon from the marinade, allowing excess sauce to drip off. Place the salmon fillets in the skillet, skin-side down if using skin-on fillets.
  5. 5 Cook the salmon for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. 6 While the salmon is cooking, pour the remaining teriyaki sauce into a small saucepan and simmer over low heat until slightly thickened.
  7. 7 Once the salmon is cooked, brush it with the thickened teriyaki sauce.
  8. 8 Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the salmon for garnish.
  9. 9 Serve the salmon hot with steamed rice and vegetables, if desired.
