Ingredients

  • 8 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. 1 Bring a pot of water to a boil and carefully add the eggs. Boil for 7-8 minutes for a medium-soft yolk.
  2. 2 Once cooked, transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool completely, then peel.
  3. 3 In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, sugar, water, rice vinegar, sliced garlic, and sesame oil. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. 4 Place the peeled eggs in a container and pour the warm soy sauce mixture over them.
  5. 5 Cover the container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to infuse.
  6. 6 Before serving, slice the eggs in half and drizzle a bit of the soy sauce mixture over them.
